About the Philadelphia Liberties
Founded in 2021, the Philadelphia Liberties are an all-girls hockey club based out of the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ. Since our inception we’ve been proud to offer girls of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels an opportunity to play ice hockey.
It’s an exciting time to be a member of the Philadelphia Liberties! Under the direction of Head Coach Linda Rehmann, we’re building a culture that emphasizes skill development and team-building. Her hiring in 2022 was a defining moment for our organization, and it’s made a remarkable impact on our players on and off the ice.
On the ice we’d had incredible moments and learning opportunities. In December, we were invited by the Philadelphia Flyers to skate on the White House’ south lawn outdoor rink. This was an unforgettable night with teammates and Flyers alumni Brad Marsh and Bob Kelly.
In January, we got to play at and take in a women’s hockey game at the legendary Lynah Rink at Cornell University. We also had the opportunity to tour the campus and athletic facilities. Being able to visit a storied university and watch high level hockey was eye-opening for our team as people and athletes.
Later in January we also hosted our 2nd annual Liberties Invitational, which featured 14 teams from NJ, PA, DE, and NY. This tournament has become a major event for girls hockey in the area, and is something we take incredible pride in calling our own.
These are just a few of many reasons that we’re excited for the future of Philadelphia Liberties hockey.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, we’re looking for girls that are committed to hard work, dedication, and most importantly, teamwork.

Linda Rehmann - Head Coach
Bio and Past Accolades
Growing up in Munster, Ontario, hockey has been a part of Linda’s life since a very young age. From ages 5 through 12 she played boys hockey, before joining the Kanata Girls and then the inaugural Ottawa Nepean Raiders team, the first competitive female hockey program in Ottawa. As a Raider, she served as a co-captain, winning two provincial championships in four years and defeating American university teams such as UNH and Northeastern.
Linda went on to attend Cornell University, where she played Division I hockey for the Big Red. In her sophomore year, Cornell went undefeated enroute to an Ivy League Championship. She served as co-captain her senior year, and graduated with a degree in civil & environmental engineering before going on to earn graduate degrees at Stanford and Drexel.
After her playing career, Linda coached her son Jack at the Flyers Youth Hockey Club from 2006-2012, winning a Squirt AA NJYHL championship and competing in several Silver Stick Tournaments. In 2023, she took over as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Liberties.
Coaching Philosophy
Linda's main focus as head coach has been skill development, team-building, and hockey sense. Throughout the year, the team has focused on fundamental hockey. Practice plans have focused on everything from edge work and stickhandling to flow drills and small game competitions.
Building players and future adults
Important to Linda is the idea that every girl should see what's possible with hard work and dedication. This past season, the Liberties traveled to Cornell University, Linda's alma mater. While there, players got to tour the college campus and athletic facilities, and both play at and take in a women's hockey game at the legendary Lynah Rink. This special experience emphasized the opportunities available in hockey, education, and life.
Memorable moments
Over the course of the year, Linda and the Liberties have had many memorable experiences. In early December, Linda had the once in a lifetime opportunity to lead the Liberties to the White House, where they were invited by the Philadelphia Flyers to skate on the White House South Lawn's outdoor rink. In January, Linda was interviewed by the Philadelphia Inquirer, for her impact within the Liberties program and the growth of girls hockey locally. But some of the most memorable moments of the season, from her perspective, have been watching the girls grow and learn, becoming better players and teammates, on and off the ice.
2024-25 Outlook
Going into next season, the goal remains the same. The Liberties are here to build and compete. Linda looks forward to coaching returning and incoming players, as the team continues to grow into a premier girls hockey club in the tri-state area.
